I wanted to see if a little blog I launched a few months ago had been indexed by the different search engines.  So I did a search using a variant of the blog’s name to see what kind of results I got.  I only looked at the first 2 – 3 pages of SERP’s, so if it’s buried on page 15 of the results I missed it.  This wasn’t intended to be a serious test, I was bored and wanted a quick snapshot.

I have not done much promotion of the site: I listed it in the Indieseek directory, I’ve mentioned it on both my blogs, I think a couple of bloggers have linked to it, but I have not submitted it to other directories or search engines.  I do post actively from the blog in question and those posts are syndicated to several social networks.  The point is there are not a lot of non-social media inbound links for this site.  It’s just a new sleepy little linkblog.  :)  I’m not naming the blog or the keyword because I want to use this test again.

Mojeek –  Yes, indexed.  Kinda surprised actually.

Brave – No.

Several Bing Based Engines (Ecosia and Startpage) – No.

Google – Yes.

Yep – Yes.  Well indexed.  No privacy with Yep, but they are indexing.  This is one to keep an eye on.

You – No.  Frankly the results look like they are mostly catalog goods for sale.  Very poor.

Marginalia – No.

Wiby.me – No. But it did show one link to a page that mentions my keyword.  It was trying.  Not bad for an engine that does not crawl the web.

SearchmySite – No. They don’t crawl the web so I didn’t expect it.

Right Dao –  No.

Alexandra Search – No.

Stract – Yes! This really surprised me.  They really are crawling and building an index.  Another search engine to keep watching.

Ichido – No.

Yandex – No.  But web pages that mention the site in question are shown.
